The Grand Theater skillfully illustrates the idea of “Life is a stage” The upward-turned glass roof form symbolizes “Heaven”. Under the roof, the crystal transparency of another glass box containing the “stage” makes culture come alive to the people outside. The plaza below is a symbol of earth. Heaven and earth are traditional element in Chinese architecture, and the glass box in between functions as the Theater. Culture, artifacts and treasures within the theater is protected by three golden shields visible through the glass box from outside which makes the theater look all the more magnificent.
